the joy of waking up
When you get to my age , it is an absoulute pleasure to open your eye's each day and find that you are still alive. Make the most of your time whilst you are on this mortal coil , cos you sleep for an awful long time when you don't wake up .

meny stories have to start somewhere
During meny year's in the R.A.F. as a chef/cook. I saw some thing's that doubled my over with mirth.Like my mate Adam's in R.A.F.Cosford boy entrance training course. We went on a fire weapons course on the bren gun. Now Adams was only 4foot nothing and as he loosed off 25 rounds of ammo, the bren gun was dragging him across the rifle butt's. The drill sergent roared at him"where the f..k do you think your going Adam's, get back here with my bloody gun or ill stick it up where the sun don't shine and pull the trigger.Well it made me giggle.

lino cutting
back in the dark distant past I left school at 15 with little or no qualification's, went to torquay school of art and craft's.I did life drawing, and Lino cutting which I was really quite good at .At the hight of my course ,my dear departed father decided that the place for me was in the R.A.F. and without leave enrolled me into the R.A.F.school of cooking and dietrie. So thank's for planning the first 17 year's of my life,R.I.P. the most controlling man I ever knew.
Never out of uniform
I just realised that since I left school in 1954 I have never been out of uniform.First stint was 17 years in the R.A.F. Then the next 30 year's as a bus and National Express coach driver, and the last 15 years for Security company's Initial and to date Mitie security. Oh well be in civvie's one day.

R.A.F. launches
Top launch is a target towing boat and the bottom launch is Pinnace. I had a connection with both these boats , the 1374 was based at Falmouth.
Introduction.
Hello, my name is David, I am an ex-Royal Air Force cook who served at the marine depo in Lyme Regis. This blog will be my small place on the internet where I can discuss past events and re-visit my experiences in the forces, and in my daily life. I hope you enjoy my discussions and memories and feel free to comment on my posts to share your own past. All the best!
